What is a workstation?

A workstation is a professional computer designed for heavy workloads such as CAD/CAM, 3D modeling, rendering, video editing, simulation and AI. Unlike standard desktop computers, it runs reliably for long periods with server-class processors (Intel Xeon, AMD Threadripper PRO), error-correcting (ECC) memory, professional graphics cards (NVIDIA RTX PRO) and application certifications.

What is inside a workstation?

Inside a workstation: graphics cards, processor, memory slots, fan and drive bays
A workstation with the side panel removed: HP Z8 Fury G6i example.
  • Graphics cards (GPU): Professional graphics cards installed in PCIe slots; most rendering, simulation and AI work happens here. High-end models accept up to four cards.
  • Processor and cooler: Multi-core workstation processors such as Intel Xeon or AMD Threadripper PRO are paired with large coolers to stay cool under sustained full load.
  • Memory (RAM) slots: Error-correcting (ECC) DDR5 memory slots, expandable to terabytes of memory for large projects and data sets.
  • Chassis fans: Direct airflow across the graphics cards and processor so the system stays stable at full performance.
  • Front drive bays: Bays for SSDs and disks that can be swapped without opening the chassis.
  • Front I/O panel: USB and audio connections.

What we do

We determine the right processor, graphics card, memory and storage configuration for your software and workload, supply the desktop or mobile workstation and install it on site. We set up the operating system, drivers, professional software, network and server connections, backup and security, and deliver the device ready to use.

Which brands?

We install and support Dell Pro Precision, HP Z, Lenovo ThinkStation / ThinkPad P and ASUS ExpertCenter Pro workstations. You can review the latest models on our Workstations page.
